A PRACTICAL QR GUIDE

QR codes for Locations

Share an exact latitude and longitude for a meeting point or entrance. Coordinates can be more useful than a postal address for a large park or rural site.

Static: The geo coordinates are embedded directly in the code.

What to put behind the code

The coordinates of the safe visitor entrance, checked on a map.

Print for the place it will live

Starting size: 3 × 3 cm. This is a starting point, not a scanning guarantee. Test where visitors stop to read directions.

Use weather-resistant matte panels for outdoor wayfinding. Keep the four-module quiet zone intact and use dark modules on a light background. Read the print-size guide.

Where to place it

  • Arrival information sheet
  • Meeting point card
  • Visitor entrance sign

Mistakes to avoid

  • Pointing to the centre of a large site
  • Sending people to an unsafe access road
  • Leaving out a readable address

Before committing to a print run

Print a proof on the final material. Scan it with more than one phone, from the normal viewing position. Check the opened destination while signed out and confirm it leads to the intended page or action. A readable fallback address or contact detail helps visitors who cannot scan.

Questions about locations

Which map app opens?
That depends on the device. A geo payload requests a location; it does not guarantee a particular maps provider.
What should I test before printing?
Scan the final locations artwork on more than one phone. Check the destination or imported details, the real viewing distance and the final printed surface.
