A PRACTICAL QR GUIDE

QR codes for Wi-Fi

Let guests join the correct network without typing a long password. A Wi-Fi code contains the network credentials directly, so treat the printout as a copy of the password.

Static: Phones need the Wi-Fi payload directly; a redirect is not a replacement for it.

What to put behind the code

Your guest SSID, matching security mode and guest password.

Print for the place it will live

Starting size: 3 × 3 cm. This is a starting point, not a scanning guarantee. Place the sign where a guest can stand close enough to scan.

Use a removable insert so changing the guest password is straightforward. Keep the four-module quiet zone intact and use dark modules on a light background. Read the print-size guide.

Where to place it

  • Reception desk
  • Guest welcome folder
  • Meeting room wall away from public windows

Mistakes to avoid

  • Using your staff network
  • Assuming the password is encrypted inside the QR
  • Forgetting to replace signs after a password change

Before committing to a print run

Print a proof on the final material. Scan it with more than one phone, from the normal viewing position. Check the opened destination while signed out and confirm it leads to the intended page or action. A readable fallback address or contact detail helps visitors who cannot scan.

Questions about wi-fi

Can someone read the password?
Yes. Anyone with the code can extract the credentials. Use a separate guest network.
What should I test before printing?
Scan the final wi-fi artwork on more than one phone. Check the destination or imported details, the real viewing distance and the final printed surface.
