A PRACTICAL QR GUIDE

QR codes for Product Packaging

Packaging can connect a physical item to instructions, ingredient details or support. Pick a destination for the exact product variant rather than asking a customer to search.

Dynamic: Printed stock may last longer than a support URL or website structure.

What to put behind the code

An accessible product page with model number and appropriate safety information.

Print for the place it will live

Starting size: 3 × 3 cm. This is a starting point, not a scanning guarantee. Test the final package shape, including the curve and its normal shelf angle.

Print on a flat matte panel; avoid seams, crimps and transparent film without a white underprint. Keep the four-module quiet zone intact and use dark modules on a light background. Read the print-size guide.

Where to place it

  • Flat rear label
  • Inside lid beside instructions
  • Outer sleeve information panel

Mistakes to avoid

  • Stretching the code around a bottle
  • Linking to the wrong model
  • Using the QR as the only source of essential warnings

Before committing to a print run

Print a proof on the final material. Scan it with more than one phone, from the normal viewing position. Check the opened destination while signed out and confirm it leads to the intended page or action. A readable fallback address or contact detail helps visitors who cannot scan.

Questions about product packaging

Can I use one code for every unit?
Yes for a shared information page. It does not identify individual units or prevent counterfeiting.
What should I test before printing?
Scan the final product packaging artwork on more than one phone. Check the destination or imported details, the real viewing distance and the final printed surface.
