A PRACTICAL QR GUIDE

QR codes for Résumés

Add work samples that do not fit on a résumé. Keep the key qualifications and readable portfolio address in the document itself.

Dynamic: Update a portfolio while previously submitted résumés remain in circulation.

What to put behind the code

A public portfolio with work you have permission to share.

Print for the place it will live

Starting size: 2 × 2 cm. This is a starting point, not a scanning guarantee. Check a normal A4 print at close reading distance.

Use a plain paper area with no patterned header behind it. Keep the four-module quiet zone intact and use dark modules on a light background. Read the print-size guide.

Where to place it

  • Contact section
  • Portfolio project block
  • Printed interview handout

Mistakes to avoid

  • Making the QR the only portfolio reference
  • Linking confidential client work
  • Using an expiring document share

Before committing to a print run

Print a proof on the final material. Scan it with more than one phone, from the normal viewing position. Check the opened destination while signed out and confirm it leads to the intended page or action. A readable fallback address or contact detail helps visitors who cannot scan.

Questions about résumés

Will applicant tracking systems scan it?
Do not rely on that. Include a readable, clickable URL in the digital résumé too.
What should I test before printing?
Scan the final résumés artwork on more than one phone. Check the destination or imported details, the real viewing distance and the final printed surface.
